About Commercial Endorsements
To apply for a commercial endorsement you will need to undertake a Medical Fitness Examination either ML5 or ENG1. The ML5 may be undertaken by your own doctor and limits you to 60 NM from shore in respect of commercial vessels whilst the ENG1 must be done by an approved doctor and has no from shore limitations. Medicals issued by a National Maritime Authority are also accepted.
Before starting any lengthy period of training it is advised that you are medically assessed to ensure you meet the fitness standard if it is your intention to apply for a commercial endorsement at the end of your course.
