Fast Track to Yachtmaster Offshore Itinerary (Sail)
- Week one
- Essential foundations are created in this week; it’s all in the detail from day one. You’ll be sailing to Morocco and along the Spanish coast. Basic systems and maintenance will be covered, along with the SRC VHF radio course.

- Week two
- Day skipper Theory in our own classroom facility, delivered by the Principal himself—with over five years teaching navigation courses, you will be in great hands. At the end of the week you’ll take the knots and splicing workshop with master splicer Tony.
- Weeks three and four
- After a week in the classroom you’ll have an exhilarating two weeks on the water, putting your new navigation knowledge to the test. There will be extended tidal sailing along the Spanish coastline, and plenty of exercises. RYA Diesel Engine and RYA Radar courses are also included.
- Week five
- Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster theory are again delivered in our classroom facilities. The benefit of having dedicated classroom facilities is that you have all this space to do extra study after hours. This course is delivered by Dave, Allabroad’s Principal. STCW 95 Personal Survival Techniques and STCW 95 Elementary First Aid, will prepare you for any eventualities on the forthcoming longer passage.
- Weeks six and seven
- Longer passage making trips along the Portuguese coast to achieve 60 Nm passages as skipper and as crew. This is a tiring yet adventurous two weeks where your skippering skills are honed and complex pilotage mastered. A wonderful welcome back to base at the end of this week where stories of the high seas are swapped with all.
- Week eight
- Intensive skills and handling. Commercial responsibilities are covered and you take charge of the yacht as though you were a commercial skipper. This week is all about the detail, the performance and handling and lots of close quarter handling exercises. The weekend is a full, and very welcomed weekend free, over half way it is a time to celebrate and recount on how far you’ve come.

- Week nine
- More passage making and taking charge as skipper, advanced handing and longer passages. Winch servicing, Fibreglass repair, gel coat care and electrics workshops; these extra modules will prepare you for many eventualities when on your own boat or working commercially.
- Week ten
- The possibility of being sign off to self skippering standards, bearing in mind that we only charter to Yachtmasters, so this is the true testament to how far you’ve progressed.
- Weeks eleven and twelve
- Adventure sailing further afield long the Portuguese coastline, more than 60 Nm of passages and great opportunities to practice navigation and tidal exercises.
- Weeks thirteen and fourteen
- Preparation for your final exam. Drop-in workshops are held where you can ask questions on any subject. All of the simulator software and equipment will be out in the classrooms for you to utilize and you’ll have access to the full study suite for the duration of these final weeks. This ensures that at whatever time you want to study, you have the space and facilities to do so.
