Essential Navigation and Seamanship
The RYA Essential Navigation course requires no previous knowledge and can be taken online through the RYA Interactive Website. This course offers a great introduction to navigation and safety awareness for new skippers and crew, and is ideal if you are planning to take your Competent Crew, Helmsman or ICC. It’s also intended for those who would like to progress to RYA Day Skipper.
You will learn all the essential navigation and seamanship skills working at your own speed, from the comfort of your home. You will find many interactive exercises to help reinforce the information, and lots of chances to try out what you’ve learned.

In your course pack you will receive a chart, plotter, dividers, course handbook, exercises and an electronic chart plotter CD. The course should take around 6 hours to complete and is offered with support along the way both online within the course and direct from your instructor. You will need internet access to complete this course.
