Suggested pre-course experience:

2 days sailing experience and Day Skipper theory level .

Price for five day course £ 875.00 (Masterclass option £1450.00)

Includes: Lunches, fuel, personal safety gear and berthing.

Modern Jeanneau power boat capable of 28 Knots fitted with 2 x 380hp Volvo Penta turbo + supercharged diesel engines. Plenty of sumptuous cream leather and walnut above. Do your courses in style.

12cd Auto-changer with outdoor speakers, Chart Plotter, radar, MARPA, GPS Microwave, and most important, a massive fridge.

4 Day RYA Day Skipper Practical tidal course (Including ICC)

A follow on course from the helmsman practical course, day skipper covers more in-depth boat handling and includes your ICC training and assessment.

The course teaches pilotage, navigation, seamanship and boat handling to the standard required to skipper a motor cruiser safely by day in tidal waters in which the student is familiar.

There is a more in depth study of navigation and seamanship covered during this course than that of the ICC course.

If you would like to do the day skipper theory course please look at the theory courses link on the left. The theory courses are the same for motor and sail.

Once you have completed your day skipper you should be able to handle a motor yacht in familiar waters by day.

Accommodation is not included but reasonable accommodation can be provided, if required.

Including: 1250 miles, two passages over 60 miles and the exam fees.

If you already have over 1000 miles on power boats then the cost to convert would reduce to

To be a yacht skipper requires more than just sailing skills.
A yacht should be happy and pleasant experience for everyone on board.
The captain Bligh days are long gone.

A good skipper will never shout at the crew.
If everything is explained properly by the skipper beforehand then everyone will know what to do and everything will run smoothly.
A skipper that shouts is usually covering up a lack of communication skills and possibly poor yacht handling skills.
