Taking your RYA Day Skipper Motor qualification on board Allabroad’s powerful Prestige 46 motor yacht is perfect for those who would like to learn on a slightly larger vessel than the average training boat and gain skills and experience to skipper a motor yacht with friends and family, or use commercial.

The course covers basic navigation, berthing, course shaping safety. We also look closely at the onboard systems to ensure that we can change fuel filters if they become blocked and bleed the fuel system. Essential knowledge for motor yacht skipper.

We offer two packages depending on your existing skills, experience and qualifications, so that even if you are brand new to motor sailing you can qualify as a Day Skipper in just 9 days.

Day Skipper Express – 9 Days

Course includes: RYA Day Skipper Theory; RYA Day Skipper Motor Practical

This hugely popular course takes those with no or little experience to Day Skipper Motor level. The course includes 5 days on the water (Monday to Friday) and the weekends before and after in the classroom studying navigation theory. On successful completion of both theory and practical elements you’ll be a qualified RYA Day Skipper.

RYA Day Skipper Motor Practical – 5 Days

Course includes: RYA Day Skipper Motor Practical

This course is the standard RYA Day Skipper Motor Practical and is suitable for those who have already completed their Day Skipper Theory. For those who have not completed theory and are unable to do the 9-day Express Motor course, online theory is an option (but must be complete prior to arrival)

Putting your RYA Day Skipper Motor Certification into use..

Having completed the practical and theory qualifications you can apply for an International Certificate of Competence for vessels up to 24m.

Whilst many people complete this course for leisure, the certificate is commercially endorsable for motor vessels up to 24 metres in length. Although restricted, to a local port, this is a great foot in the door to the maritime industry.
