Upon successful completion of the RYA Coastal Skipper course you will be able to manage inshore and coastal passages by day and night with confidence and be able to enter unfamiliar marinas with the application of your advanced navigation, skippering and pilotage skills.

Practice with a Yachtmaster Instructor

Certification aside, this course is also popular with Day Skipper’s who haven’t taken their Coastal / Yachtmaster theory, because they get to practice with guidance from a Yachtmaster Instructor, without the pressure of having to cover the whole RYA syllabus.

Putting your Coastal Skipper Certification into use…

Once you’ve completed your Coastal Skipper your next course of action is to put your skippering skills into practice on a longer trip and then consider going for your Yachtmaster certificate with a Yachtmaster Exam Preparation skills week. This is a great way to focus on close quarter handling and the trickier elements of skippering yachts.
